Should be linked to this previous HN story "Tracking Everything I Wore For 1 Year" from 52 days ago: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31957210 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31957210 I noticed in that previous story that the author spent almost the entire year wearing dark monochromatic gray clothes and very very dark shades of blue. One theory I would propose is followers follow, and if everything around a person from house colors to car colors to, well, everything, is bland and colorless, then they will follow, and drive even more people into blandness, until essentially everything is merely a shade of gray.
