I’ve noticed a big decline in performance recently on my 2020 MacBook Air (pre-M1) — a lot more fan activity and some apps completely freezing (iMessages and Slack in particular, but also StarCraft a few times). I’ve been wondering if Apple’s latest software updates are optimized for the new machines at the expense of the old ones? Not sure how Apple could optimize for both architectures simultaneously, and if they faced a tradeoff, I’m pretty sure what they’d do…
