- phantomathkg 4y agoAs the post mentioned, even the VSCodium team cannot shutdown all telemetry. Seems some do not have switches?
- jacknews 4y agoYou are correct, I didn't read the whole thing completely.
- ensignavenger 4y agoWhy not just remove it from the source code?
- 5d8767c68926 4y agoGiven the frequency of updates, maintaining a privacy fork with anything but minor changes would be a Sisyphean task.
- npteljes 4y agoWhich is exactly what I'd expect from a privacy fork.
- phantomathkg 4y agoHow about we contribute back the changes needed?
- npteljes 4y agoYou mean, you and I should team up for some quality free software work?
- Tijdreiziger 4y agoungoogled-chromium and Bromite do it for Chromium, so it should theoretically be possible for VSCode.

- robotnikman 4y agoMaybe there are dependencies on closed source libraries or API's which report telemetry? I'm no expert on this though.
- techsin101 4y agowont just blocking from host file would be sufficient? add certain domains and ip addresses to the list
- nerdjon 4y agoI love VSCodium. I wish they could find a way around some missing plugins, but it does what I need it to.
- alrlroipsp 4y agoJust fix your marketplace settings and use official plugins :) https://github.com/VSCodium/vscodium/blob/master/DOCS.md#extensions-marketplace https://github.com/VSCodium/vscodium/blob/master/DOCS.md#ext...
- nerdjon 4y ago... please tell me this is a recent fix and not something that I missed when I looked a year or so ago? Thank you! Was always annoying when coworkers would tell me about a plugin that I could not install (or worse, had an old broken one)
- any_spite 4y agoDoes VScodium support WSL now ? I need windows unfortunately for office apps.
- 0x457 4y agoRemote-WSL (and all other remote plugins) plugin is proprietary MS plugin, so no. You can go a bit different way: run code-server or OpenVSCode Server in WSL and open them in a browser.
