Electric cars have a big tire conundrum
- smileysteve 4y agoIt's hard to imagine paying to give up 40 miles per charge AND get charged every new tire.

- fred_is_fred 4y agoThis isn't new and is true of any car whether it's powered by coal or gas or hydrogen or whatever. I have the "off road" version of the truck I own. It has knobbier tires than stock but not the drive through a 6' swamp that you are picturing. I pay a MPG penalty - that I would guess is less than the range penalty for an EV, but I do so because I am in fact driving off-road or in snow on a fairly regular basis.
- rdtwo 4y agoSounds like maybe they are getting better but ev and hybrid tires have always been shitty. The low rolling friction trend to come as a package deal with long stopping distance. The change can be drastic too. Sometimes the stopping distance gets cut in half
