Turned away at Del Taco drive-through, high Uber costs: Life in L.A. without car
- etothepii 4y ago> I have a bizarre phobia of things that can potentially kill me. Me too.
- stuntkite 4y agoI did this for a year. I can’t imagine doing it post 2020. LA is a huge archipelago of microcosms floating in an ocean of bullshit that has nowhere to park. Living there was like being a sea turtle that can eat things that can very technically “live” in the great pacific garbage gyre.

- quesomaster9000 4y agoOne of my favorite past times was trundling up to the KFC near my smoke spot behind my equally fried friend pretending to drive an imaginary car so we could get takeout beyond the usual dine-in hours. It's a shame that, in this case, they ended up being affronted by a jobsworth.
- vba616 4y agoPeople will drive right through ya even if you are on the inside of the building. A few years ago (not in LA) I used to go to a Panera where (I didn't witness it) a car got airborne Joie Chitwood style off the embankment of the parallel road and "drove through" the front.
- macinjosh 4y agoImagine moving to a new country and expecting it to fit your own lifestyle and not that of everyone who has always been there. Also, insurance companies for restaurants is why they don’t serve walk up customers. They could get sued if a car hit them. It’s not some grand conspiracy from the city.
