I've also experienced this, which is why my Git configs all use my noreply GitHub email address now. Commits written with this email address are properly linked to your GitHub account on the website, but anyone who attempts to email it goes to dev null. I understand someone might want to contact me, so I have alternative contact instructions on my GitHub profile, but no one has ever done so.
