- clouddrover 4y agoIt didn't prohibit Mercedes: https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a39966189/2022-mercedes-benz-eqs-drive-pilot-drive/ https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a39966189/2022-mercedes... https://electrek.co/2022/07/22/mercedes-drive-pilot-review/ https://electrek.co/2022/07/22/mercedes-drive-pilot-review/
- awestroke 4y agoWell yeah, if you double the price of the car you can afford to slap lidar on it. You'll sell fewer cars, however
- clouddrover 4y agoSo what's the Model S's and Model X's excuse? They've got the Mercedes EQS price tag but not the equipment.
- awestroke 4y agoTesla want to offer FSD on their whole lineup, not just in their high end models
- clouddrover 4y agoAh, I understand. So the Model S and Model X are rip offs. Better off with the Mercedes EQS. Or the Lucid Air for that matter: https://www.carscoops.com/2022/02/lucids-lidar-based-dreamdrive-pro-is-cheaper-than-tesla-fsd-in-the-us-more-expensive-in-canada/ https://www.carscoops.com/2022/02/lucids-lidar-based-dreamdr...
- __m 4y agoNot at night
- dmitriid 4y ago> you get more data with multiple cameras than with one single lidar Until you're at night in the snow/dirt.
- hoseja 4y agoYeah, lidar famously deals well with inclement weather and low visibility conditions. Those infrared lasers just punch right through the fog and snowflakes. Lmao.
- dmitriid 4y agoAh you decided to be smart and sarcastic, and inadvertently showed just how limited the tech in these "autonomous" cars is. And that you can't just handwave these problems away.
