Save those silica gel packets that come with your purchases. Here's why

- londons_explore 4y agoOne thing that surprised me about silica gel packets: They absorb water really quickly. I recharged them in the oven (a few hours at 180C), but when they cool down, even 5 minutes in my house and they're saturated again. If you have accurate scales, you can weigh them to draw a graph of water absorption over time. So, to properly use them, you need to rapidly move them from the oven to a sealed container. Even 30 seconds out has probably degraded them.
