My theory is that no technology created for good is free from a malicious, or inadvertently destructive use (and possibly the converse). Consider something as superficially innocuous as Facebook (at least before it became what it is today); it did genuinely connect people in a novel and meaningful way, but ultimately resulted in addictive behavior and correlation with depression. Slack: great for improving communication and what-not, but is associated with all kinds of counter-productive behavior. Nuclear fission? Just imagine what could be done with mRNA.
If you are an genius it might well be impossible to be a responsible inventor.
