Homeschooling takes 2-3 hours per day, not 8, and it doesn't have to be 5 days per week. Once the kids are around 10 or so, they can do a lot on their own as far as reading material. For socializing, there's karate class, or other kid sports. Church groups, going to the local park. You know, getting out into the world.
