Human gastric juice contains chitinase that can degrade chitin
>In this pilot study we tested the gastric juices of 25 Italian subjects on the artificial substrates 4-methylumbelliferyl-beta-D-N,N',diacetylchitobiose or/and fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) chitin to demonstrate the presence of a chitinase activity
>AMCase activity was present in gastric juices of twenty of 25 Italian patients
>In the remaining five of 25 gastric juices, AMCase activity was almost absent in both assay methods
>The absence of activity in 20% of the gastric juices may be a consequence of virtual absence of chitinous food in the Western diet.
Their conclusion is correct, but they don't say why....and the why is because eating insects is disgusting and a vector for parasites. Humans may be able to eat the occassional bug that flies into our mouth and gets swallowed but we are not designed to consume insects on a large scale.
- gus_massa 4y agoEating insects is a cultural thing. Do you eat shrimp and oysters? Neither of them are insect, but they are nasty looking enough. I like eating them anyway.
- dimensionc132 4y agoThey can keep their culture, we don't want it
- gus_massa 4y agoDo you eat shrimp and oysters?
- dimensionc132 4y agoI don't, not that it's relevant really. Shrimp and Oysters and other seafood have been consumed by humans for millennia. Bugs on the other hand, are being forced down our throats by Schwab and his WEF goons as the solution to cow farts. I bet you all the money in the world, Gates, Schwab and his cohort sycophants will not eat one single cockroach. And to say that well, "other cultures eat bugs so we should too" is so utterly stupid it misses the entire point of the argument. You know what other cultures also do...beheadings...and suicide bombings...with that argument we should introduce those cultural norms into our western society too.
- gus_massa 4y agoI've heard stories of people eating ants and locusts. I don't remember stories of people eating cockroaches. Is someone proposing to eat cockroaches? > You know what other cultures also do...beheadings You mean like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_Boleyn#Death_and_burial https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_Boleyn#Death_and_burial or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary,_Queen_of_Scots#Execution https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary,_Queen_of_Scots#Execution or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillotine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillotine
