Yes calculators and such have largely made long division pointless, but it's still quite useful being able to get around without GPS. especially around construction, GPS is awful. You need to know the limits of the tools you're using. If you just say "I'm always going to use GPS, because it's always better" you are really doing yourself a disservice.
