The core is an increase of referrals for social anxiety and a whole bunch of implications about feelings and little-to-no practical advice or definition for the problem. Pop psychology is a long way from useful, it's 95% noise, 5% signal. It's frustrating watching people seek solutions from it, when really all it can do is identify problems.
