The author views are heavily tainted by her career: “I spent my entire professional life working on the issue of male violence against women—first in a rape crisis center, and later as a journalist and a media relations director for a legal campaign against sexual violence.” It’s easy to assume all men are predators when that’s the reality you face every day.
- zozbot234 4y agoThen it's a bit weird that she dismisses "consent workshops". What's wrong with those? They explore patterns and scripts of social interaction that successfully remove the fiction of plausible deniability from outright predatory behavior, and enable others to recognize it and call it out easily. This is not something that should have obnoxious political connotations, it's just a straightforward improvement.
