I'm pretty sure the first person to tape fruit to a wall was the person who invented tape. Probably went something like this. Tape Inventor, "Hey come look I have this strip that allows me to stick anything to anything." Doubter comes and sees several things taped to a wall, "You're playing a joke you just stapled them there" Tape Inventor, "No watch this, hand me that banana" While I agree almost anything can be art because it's so subjective. Hopefully some judge smacks some sense in to the art community that not everything is protected art simply because you believe you were the first to market it.
