  amazing freudian slip! should have been founded :) first was age 13; I am 46 right now. They just seem to have added up over the years; I now have a venture studio which means the pace is accelerating. Somewhere in there I read papers on venture portfolio construction which calculated that a vc needs roughly 50+ companies in the portfolio before they have enough hedging against random bad luck. Every entrepreneur should think hard about those stats - my response to it has some obvious down-sides but made sense to me.
