The fact that significant amount of people have experienced taste loss/alteration for periods well beyond the initial infection indicates the potential for neurological damage COVID has to the larger population. I hope this doesn't translate into other hidden long-term effects, e.g. a huge portion of the current population needing fulltime medical care as dementia hits them at a later age..
