Things have regressed a lot since then. IMHO this should be part of the normal regression testing on things like Chrome, Firefox, and Thunderbird. As things are now, at least on my system, Chrome doesn't run remotely at all, Firefox does, but lags unbearably (and sometimes crashes) at startup, and Thunderbird lags moderately at startup. (All of this on a 1000Base-T LAN.)
