The capability is there in Linux. I use it myself now and then. With regards to the Mac, MacOS is BSD-based. BSD UNIX has had that capability and the required software for decades. So ... the capability is there. The software 'app' probably isn't. It would probably only need the installation of several packages. MacOS is a downgrade from the underlying BSD UNIX that is its foundation.
