Wearable sensor detects compounds in human sweat
- ChuckMcM 4y agoThis is a pretty neat application of wearable electronics. Much like the wearable blood sugar level monitor that diabetics can use, this detects a fairly large swath of substances that people sweat out while metabolizing. I would not be surprised to find athletes who train wearing something like this in order to develop a food regimen that gives the maximum energy for the minimal amount of intake. The last time I saw something like this was late 90's by a company called Affymetrix[1] that had a "genechip" that was using micro-fluidics and silicon receptors for genetic material identification. They didn't have the computer power at the time to put into the chip at the wearable level for that to work like this new sensor does.
