A monumental case looks to crack open the world of auto-warranty robocalls
- Sohcahtoa82 4y agoI wonder if these assholes would be under a lot less scrutiny if they did something to reduce how many times they call the same number. The article here states that they've placed "billions" of calls. If we even assume the number is just 2 billion, with a US population of ~330M, that's an average of 6 calls per person. But that number assumes every man, woman, and child has their own number, which certainly isn't the case, so the number is likely higher. I don't answer the phone if I don't know the number, so I've never heard the words "We have been trying to reach you about your car’s extended warranty", I've only seen the memes about it. But I'll get anywhere from 2-5 calls from unknown numbers per week. They either don't leave a voicemail, or they leave a 5-10 second silent voicemail.
