- marginalia_nu 4y agoGoes back a long way. It used to be the four temperaments of melancholic, phlegmatic, sanguine and choleric were the basis vectors for explaining human behavior. That's absolutely a way you can reason about things. Psychology, whether modern or ancient, creates a language for speaking about our experiences and the behavior of others, which shapes our way of thinking about it in an almost Saphir-Whorf:ian way.
