Could you elaborate on what you mean by "heavy"? React Native Web produces a pretty normal React app, it's not that different from what Ionic puts out.
But if hybrid performance is sufficient for you, both will probably be fine.
I would say; pick one and start building! You could even try out both. That will give you much more insight than trying to reason about it.
