Dan Price, CEO who cut his pay so workers made at least $70k, resigns
- refurb 4y agoFor all the press coverage, I have no idea what his company does. But regardless, one shouldn't be surprised that a CEO that was all about self-promotion is accused of unsavory acts.

- xupybd 4y agoOuch those are some pretty heavy allegations. What ever happened I hope the truth comes out and justice is served.
- pschuegr 4y agoI imagine most allegations are true since the “conspiracy by unrelated groups of people” is a pretty thin hope to hang on... but yes, agreed. Unfortunately people comfortable with adulation so rarely seem to deserve it.
- xupybd 4y agoYeah I expect that will be the case. However I like to hold judgement until there is public proof. I'm just way too far from this situation, or any public scandal, to have any idea what is really going. My version of innocent until proven guilty.
- filoleg 4y agoI dont know how people have been ignoring it the entire time, but there is literally an investigation and a direct interview done by Bloomberg with Dan Price about a lot of allegations and details from a few years ago, and he doesn't look good there at all[0]. We are talking about him directly contradicting facts proven by factual documented records with no explanation whatsoever, and then dodging the domestic abuse accusations with super shady replies. And I am saying this as someone who is extremely on the "innocent until proven guilty" side of the spectrum and who always tries to come up with the most plausible non-guilty explanations. In his case, I was plainly confused by how this wild article+interview from 2015 attracted exactly zero attention at all, despite the very relevant controversial content and being posted by a reputable major publisher like Bloomberg. 0. https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2015-gravity-ceo-dan-price/ https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2015-gravity-ceo-dan-pric...

- joemazerino 4y agoA progressive CEO that has a multitude of skeletons in his closet? Color me shocked! Jokes aside, I like how the article references his infamous "$70,000" statement only after his lawsuit with his brother.
- ageek123 4y agoThis guy was the most insufferable poster on all of LinkedIn. And that's saying a lot.
- pipeline_peak 4y agoWhat specifically made him sound insufferable? I heard him say “If a company tells you they’re like a family, run away”, which to be fair is a cringey slogan, but he goes for that Oprah feel good thing a lot. To avoid a company that dismissively is bad advice.
- demarq 4y agoNext to defending large corporations, is hating on someone who is fighting to make sure we all get paid better. If there is anything I can fault the man for, it’s the sexual misconduct. Disappointing if they turn out true. However his evangelism for fair pay is something I really respect. I’m not sure if some Stockholm syndrome has driven people to cringe when someone is literally advocating for companies not to lay off people, or make sure that everyone get’s decent pay.
- immigrantheart 4y agoI don't really care about his allegations. Innocent until proven guilty. I care more about the way he runs his company: - Minimum salary is $80k - Unlimited time off - Doesn't lay off people My skeptical game theory hat tells me this is not sustainable, not scalable and not applicable to every company out there. Even if it is, it won't be long before market forces and human stupidity, laziness and greed (both the employee and employer) force it back to equilibrium.
- TideAd 4y agoFor a tech company in Seattle, $80k is not exactly great pay.
- immigrantheart 4y agoI'm under the impression that every worker in this company gets $80k. By every worker, I mean, including janitor as well. Is it sustainable to pay a janitor $80k/year?
- searealist 4y agoWhat do you think the chances are he employs a janitor at 80k vs uses third party service that pays janitors very little?
- immigrantheart 4y agoI genuinely don't know. Does he?
- searealist 4y agoI'm not the one who claims he is paying a janitor $80k.
