I always contend that most of our technology and most of the web is still in the "Get it working" stage of Kent Beck's infamous "Get it working, get it right, get it fast" methodology. In the "Get it working" stage, any name will do, if the goal is to get it to work. Then, due to constraints somehow it gets shipped in that stage, because afterall, it does work. Working technology is more valuable than non-working technology.
So many things have this "#NamingDebt" too. Naming Debt is one of the hardest types of debt to fix.
One way that I have found to prevent naming debt while working towards the "Get it working" stage is to pick ridiculous names, absurd names. It isn't always possible because to work towards things, you want things to make sense in your own brain. But sometimes it can work.
