Leftist in the sense of those who are more worried about supporting social/cultural topics than anything else. The kind who care more about if a company "supports" LGBTQIAP+ rights and "fighting" climate change than if the company supports unionizing and profit sharing. Social leftists rather than economic leftists. When most people say "left wing" in reference to the U.S. that is what they mean. Granted there are many leftists who are both, but not as many as an economic leftist would like. The Venn diagram is not a circle.
- manishsharan 4y agoNot sure where you got your definition for leftists. The left as I know it has been fighting for universal healthcare, increasing minimum wages, increase unionization of labor, better child care benefits, increased funding for schools and public services, increase on capital gains tax and fighting climate change. They also fight for providing equal treatment for minorities and women. If one only cares about supports" LGBTQIAP+ rights and not the other issues, they are probably log cabin republicans.
