I've had this thought. Like we inevitably need a World War scale event every 100 or 200 years or the system will devolve into the most rent-seeking, unproductive, regulatory capture garbage. Real estate speculation is just such an utterly unproductive endeavor just on the face of it, it's incredible it got this bad.
