The company is Netscape, right?
- steveBK123 4y agoDoubt it .. I've seen this pattern play out with about 50% of the companies I've worked at. Looks closely enough and you'll find it everywhere. It's specifically bad with internal tools because there are no market forces at play, just CEO/CTO whim. A single person can remain irrational longer than you can likely tolerate having an unpleasant job. If Apple did this to say their iOS team and stopped shipping OS updates for 3 years, people would switch to Android in droves. If your companies CRM / accounting tool / PNL dashboard / etc type tool stopped getting new features for 3 years .. what happens? Internal teams become upset, complain to the CTO who is the one who made the call.. CTO promises them the new thing is coming and will be 100x better. This can go on for a while until CTO is proven correct, starts firing sacrificial lambs on new team, or slowly backtracks and lets old team start delivering again. In the meantime other departments jobs get slower/harder/more annoying and theres indirect, hard to measure impact on sales/revenue/profit/etc.
