The old candidates are discarded for good reason, they arent better than their younger competitors, even if they write solid code. I think I can agree on that Majority of programming is web dev and other boring software which requires business knowledge from domain experts and programmers with some experience that just care. At worst they'll fail and refactor. But yea, there are way harder domains than that.
