The FOSS licensing issue is huge. I have followed the entire Deer anti-right-to-repair saga and this is the first time I have seen that item.
- thrtythreeforty 4y agoIt would be a rich irony if they end up having to release chunks of code for their restrictively-licensed firmware because they thumbed their nose at the FOSS community and used GPL software. I'm skeptical it will come to that, but one can dream.
- jwsteigerwalt 4y agoI’m optimistic that it could be a vulnerability to attack Deer’s abuses via a legal proceeding opposed to the political process. I support much of the Right To Repair platform, but the current progress is so slow.
