While I agree with the general premise underlying some of the dystopic overtones, I don't fully believe that just a handful of mortals will be able to point their optimized machines comprised of private software at a novel problem and chug away - the amount of humans that need to be in the loop for any of these large companies to function is staggering, especially when you consider 2nd, 3rd, and nth order effects... However, I do believe that in general the giant and well-oiled tech behemoths will continue to contribute towards global inequality for a while longer before they are stopped.
