My company mandated return to office two days a week. I quit and landed a better job that’s remote and with location-independent pay. Working from an office is fine for some. Make it optional. Lots of companies are still hiring. I encourage you to see what’s out there and ask interviewers if roles can be made remote. Commuting is an expensive, time-consuming, and wasteful activity. Working from an open office was, for me, a source of near constant low level background stress. It felt unnatural, and I couldn’t work as well. Now, remote, I can deliver more quality work with less burnout. I am also feeling healthier.
