I'm glad that the project is moving along nicely, but I don't quite understand why so much time and energy is still being put into Synapse instead of Dendrite.

I'm glad that the project is moving along nicely, but I don't quite understand why so much time and energy is still being put into Synapse instead of Dendrite. I mean... don't get me wrong, it's pretty impressive how much optimizations were able to happen, but wasn't Synapse initially meant as some sort of MVP that was to be replaced by a next-gen homeserver implementation like Dendrite? IIRC Dendrite was intended to be out of beta (and pass 100% of the tests) like... a year ago, right?

Basically: we haven’t been able to just stop Synapse dev because there are tonnes of people using it, and it’s ended up being a mature solution in the end. So we switched emphasis on Dendrite to be for embedded homeservers instead. Once Dendrite is as mature as Synapse and we have account portability then folks may migrate, but we haven’t been able to afford to let Synapse stagnate while that happens.
