Good way to think through weird ideas. Something can be just plain weird (dare I say, the Earth is triangular, no evidence for that) or just sound weird but with good understanding you realize it isn't so weird (no one knows how to make a pencil). I think if you have a weird idea X, you may need to teach the less weird prerequisites first. Then sell the idea once people are acquainted.
