Solar feels a lot like computer equipment. You know that advances are going to continue so it can be a waste to buy a big expensive system right now when you know that a much better and cheaper system might be available in just a year or two. You can't wait forever, but it is hard to time when to bite the bullet when you want to install solar. Personally, I am waiting until I can install a system that will produce an average of 1000kWh per month (about $100 worth of power in my state) but only costs $6000 installed (5 year payback time). Any guesses when that will be possible?
