The Rise of the Worker Productivity Score
- raxxorraxor 4y agoIt is a tool for people that like to stare at picture frames. Nothing will be gained by this as there was nothing gained by open offices. It is a result of people in bullshit jobs needing to do anything. Work will be worse, especially for the lower end of the income spectrum. Logistics is full of it although there are some industry specific cases where surveillance can indeed make sense. I did not have any doubt it will be successful in the US for the general workplace without too many worker protections. > UnitedHealth social workers were marked idle for lack of keyboard activity while counseling patients in drug treatment facilities, according to a former supervisor. Not those workers, but some people really deserve it. There have been warnings about surveillance tech for years. Probably something people must feel to really understand the consequences. But I believe many won't even complain as long as their colleague next to them isn't surveilled less than they are. > "Derelict workers can be rooted out. Industrious ones can be rewarded." Golem A is happy as he is treated a bit better than Golem B. It is of course a matter of fairness! Trouble is that this explanation works. > “We’re in this era of measurement but we don’t know what we should be measuring” Still missed the question if you do indeed need to measure. But if there is someone for workplace intelligence, there will be something. Of course that won't be information provided to people that actually do work. > “The real question,” he said, “is which companies are going to use it and when, and which companies are going to become irrelevant?” -- Tommy Weir Typical scammer and certainly not a person you should listen to on the topic of leadership. Well, he might sell you a solution that works. But there are companies that are better and his customers should be treated with care. He is selling buzzwords like AI, but he won't improve anything substantially. This is lacking innovation. Selling penis enlargement on the internet is a good business idea. Large firms always have bullshit departments that buy bullshit solutions. These will be the customers here. Real efficiency would be to get rid of these bullshit departments. With workforce getting smaller, companies need to adapt to get talent. Make something out of yourself for once.
