Show HN:How We built TinySnap: the anatomy of a browser extension
- tomcam 4y agoI don’t see any of the images
- dearroy 4y agoHi, This should have been fixed, thank you!
- creakingstairs 4y agoFYI clicking on the "TinySnap Blog" nav header navigates to `https://89.58.35.145/ https://89.58.35.145/` instead of the blog home page for me
- dearroy 4y agoThanks for reporting that issue! I am getting down to it and will fix it today.
- dearroy 4y agoWell, I wasn't able to reproduce the issue. Clicking on the "TinySnap Blog" leads to https://blog.tinysnap.app https://blog.tinysnap.app. May I know your location and browser version? I'll try to locate the issue and fix it.
- creakingstairs 4y agoYeah it's weird. I can see in the inspector that the element's href points to that url. - This is my user agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/104.0.0.0 Safari/537.36 - I'm in Japan - the initial request to the url results in a 301 redirect to that IP - same result in incognito mode - works on my iPhone Safari and MacOS Safari - I get 3 warning messages on Chrome with same message `crbug/1173575, non-JS module files deprecated.` but not on Safari So it's looking like some weird Chrome issue
- dearroy 4y agoWell, it took me around 2 days to locate the issue and fix it. Should be working for you now, give another try!
- creakingstairs 4y agoAwesome! will do when I get back home! Just curious, what was the issue by the way?
- dearroy 4y agoCloudflare universal SSL caused a redirection issue, I disabled the universal SSL and it works.
- creakingstairs 4y agoI forgot to reply but your fix is working! > Cloudflare universal SSL caused a redirection issue TIL, good to know that could cause this. Thanks for sharing.
- avinassh 4y agoHey! I will try this extension, thanks for making. I share screenshots of HTML pages on Twitter and I often struggle while taking the screenshot which can also suit to twitter’s resolution requirement. Any idea how to do it better? Can this tool help me?
- dearroy 4y agoYes, it does. For myself, the screenshots I made for HTML pages work perfectly on Twitter. And we are releasing a new version this Friday, which includes the ratio dimensions of popular social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram, etc. If that is what you are looking for, you may subscribe to our newsletter and get an update when it's ready.
