The only Blub language is Python, in that it's sort of the arithmetic mean of everything that came before it, and some that came after it. It doesn't have strong opinions on anything, and it's hard to find agreement on what "Pythonic" code is.
- polotics 4y agoNot quite: many higher order and haskell-y things have been implemented on top of python, as well as the usual pedestrian OO stuff, so I don't see python as fitting this one dimensional model of programming language, mostly it demonstrates the limited scope of this "Blub model".
- analog31 4y agoWhat I've noticed about Python is that very few people learn it at a stage when they can make an informed evaluation of programming languages on their merits. And they're not even quite clear on the difference between Python, its libraries, tools, and so forth. They (i.e., we) haven't even learned the entire language. Come for the libraries, the community, jobs, and productivity. Stay for the programming language. It wasn't too long ago that PG said Python programmers were smarter. http://paulgraham.com/pypar.html http://paulgraham.com/pypar.html
- lostmsu 4y agoCame to Python after over 15 years of programming experience for libraries. Would run away as far as I could as fast as I can if not for them.
