Makes me think of the Olympics which is after all the ultimate sporting event and the competitors are amateurs.
- WJW 4y agoThis hasn't been the case since the 90s (though the move towards allowing them started much earlier). Professional athletes are allowed to compete in all sports these days. IIRC boxing was the last sport to hold on to the "amateurs only" rule but abandoned it for the 2016 olympics.
