- Manuel_D 4y agoThe lines are just a few hundred kilometers in that video. If your plan is to even out the intermittency of wind and solar with long distance transmission, then you'll need lines that are thousand and tens of thousands of kilometers long. Europe has an interconnected grid, but most of it is in AC lines that have unacceptably larger transmission losses.
