No one in San Francisco calls it "San Fran" - it's "the City"
- dcow 4y agoSF is more common, generally. “The city” is used when talking to other bay area residents where context implies which city is the city. If you travel to NYC and tell people you live in the city they won’t know you mean SF. Of course, you should just call it San Francisco.
