The Western name order is what's a bit awkward to me. I don't like starting my name with my given name when it's the other way around officially. In a catalog of names you wouldn't start with the given name either. The most formal way of addressing someone would be using their title, and their family name. You wouldn't call someone Dr. John, and yet with the Western name order you would call them Dr. John Lambard, but also Dr. Lambard.

- Comevius 4y agoExactly. With a proper lexical order you can search efficiently. A composite index that starts with a month would be useful for finding entries with the given month, but usually we want to find entries recursively, starting with a year, then the month, then the day, if necessary, as at that point we may have already found what we are looking for.
