I for one would love it if industry that produces real things collaborated to produce their own best of breed tooling rather than let SV aimlessly generate endless supply of half assed crap to capture worker agency as part of its game to control the economy. Industrial designs from buildings to cars, heavy equipment, and manufacturing equipment, could chip in enough to effectively end Autodesk. Movie studios could ruin Adobe. My friends in chip business are giving me hope; more and more logic is being embedded in chips, requiring less and less software to cover up usability and bugs in hardware. I look forward to the day pretentious cut-n-paste engineering (software) is relegated to an eccentric hobby.
