I think lots of companies have beaten Tesla to a working robot. Honda's ASIMO has been around for over 20 years: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASIMO https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASIMO https://asimo.honda.com/ https://asimo.honda.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIIUMLC3XfU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIIUMLC3XfU Kuka makes industrial robots as part of its core business and for playing table tennis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIIJME8-au8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIIJME8-au8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxSyXMbV3Yg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxSyXMbV3Yg
