"The number of lonely single men is on the rise" due to "modern dating's higher standards"
"... straight women are increasingly better positioned to have their pick of other suitors who actually meet their standards"
If there are fewer men who meet their higher standards, how are [women ages 25 to 45] better positioned to have their pick of them? If their dating standards increased it would shrink the pool of eligibles and increase scarcity for women too.
- AnimalMuppet 4y agoTrue, but... Women now have the "nope" option, which historically they didn't. A woman now can realistically say, "I want a man this good, or nobody". Every woman who doesn't like the available options and chooses "nobody" is a man who doesn't get picked. Unfortunately, many men respond to this, not by getting their act together and becoming someone worth picking, but instead by moping around and calling them themselves "incel", and "laying flat", and taking drugs and alcohol, and getting lost in extreme politics, and on and on. The good news for men is, if you can become a more-or-less decent person, that's rare enough that you may be able to attract a better woman than you perhaps deserve. I certainly did.
- tus666 4y ago> A woman now can realistically say, "I want a man this good, or nobody". Doesn't that make her a female incel? What's the difference?
- CurtHagenlocher 4y agoThere is a term "femcel"... I think the difference (no matter what you are or what kind of person you're attracted to) is in the way you choose to deal with failure.
- tus666 4y agoBy writing snarky blog posts on extremist websites? Reminds me of something...
- quantified 4y agoNo, she's not talking about being rejected by men. She is VOLUNTARILY celibate. I know plenty of women who are happy with themselves and some toys until a suitably attractive guy comes around.
- tus666 4y agoSounds like she is being rejected by "worthy" men or she would be with one of them?
- quantified 4y agoNo, per the ancestor post, she wants a man who measures up to her standard, or she's staying solo.
- tus666 4y agoThat literally means she can't find someone who wants to be with her. That is literally the definition of an incel.
- quantified 4y agoNo, that means she can't find someone she wants to be with. 100 doofuses could be wanting to be with her and she'll be happy without any of them. She is VOLUNTARILY celibate.
- tus666 4y agoNo, voluntary would mean she could find someone she wants but she still chooses to be single.

- quantified 4y agoYou also need to pass a minimum bar for looks, and if you don't have the gift of gab you need to be properly introduced. Fortunately, I'm somewhat older, and in my pool the women don't all need me to be as exciting as that stunt double across the room. But being a decent person is merely necessary, not sufficient. Women have always had a higher bar than men, because they are not ruled by their d1(xs.
