If it does lower energy costs will they understand how it works? Or is it, it works, we don't care how it works because it works.. etc? Algorithms are not artificial intelligence. Algorithms have been dependable well over a hundred years before computers were invented. You cannot peak inside of a neural net to see it's process and there is little hope of solving a problem in an edge case because the internal parts are hidden from you. Science used to be about repeatable processes that could be understood from one end to the other. Take any human understanding of it out of the system and it is no better than magic.
