Both China and the US officially have a "launch on warning" posture, with China only very recently switching from a "no first use" (NFU) policy which they had tried to get the US to adopt. Formally the US calls its posture "launch on attack", which means they will launch a strike if they get a "tactical warning" of a nuclear strike.
