What is the difference between equality, equity, and parity?
- raxxorraxor 4y agoExactly. We could speculate about definitions but she simultaneously verbally commits to the cause of the day while leaving herself free of promises towards anything. That is the cynical definition at least, but more positively it can improve your chances of compromises too, which might be wise. I would guess equality is equality before the law. Everyone has the same chances. Equity would do more and advantages those that are disadvantaged. Parity probably leans more to equity in German and English, but it wasn't part of the discourse yet and isn't as strictly defined. That said, nobody is completely for equity or equality. I guess the usage has changed from equality to equity because equality became attached to a very libertarian interpretation.
