- drcongo 4y agoDoesn't matter to me, I have an iPhone. But regardless of personal experience, Google has tried and failed endlessly to make a not-shit messaging app for Android, and has now seemingly given up and adopted a terrible protocol, and is crowing about it like they're the saviour of messaging. They're not, they've just given up trying.
- blooalien 4y ago> "Google has tried and failed endlessly to make a not-shit messaging app for Android" … Sadly, some would say that they've tried and succeeded multiple times to make a "not-shit messaging app for Android" and then promptly murdered each success just as it became popular. > … "and has now seemingly given up and adopted a terrible protocol, and is crowing about it like they're the saviour of messaging." Yeah, this seems to be pretty much the "standard model" for most "tech giants" these days. :( > … "They're not, they've just given up trying." On so many levels beyond just messaging. :(
- garciasn 4y agoExactly. They've positioned this as creating problems for iOS users; however, all of these items are frustrating for Android users, not the other way around. They're preaching to the wrong choir.
- ElijahLynn 4y agoYeah, so many in this thread are acting ignorant to what is actually going on. Which is surprising considering the audience. RCS is a new standard, Google doesn't own it people.
- icehawk 4y agoYeah it does and Google removing XMPP federation from Google talk should means "What happens when they no longer stand to benefit the most?" should probably come up.
