How the Physics of Nothing Underlies Everything

- wrycoder 4y agoAnother rehash of the same thing we’ve been hearing for the last thirty years. There’s nothing new in the article, and I’m surprised that Quanta published it.

- As_You_Wish 4y agoYou know, there's always someone that hasn't heard of it before. I'm included in that set of people, so the article is very interesting to me. Just an FYI.
- wrycoder 4y agoSure, but there are many lower level popular science magazines, to say nothing of the hundreds of books that have been published on the topic. Quanta Magazine is a rarity - a non-mathematical magazine that covers the forefront of science in depth. I’d be sad if its editors felt it had to spend its precious pages rehashing what is widely known.

- dieselgate 4y agoI remember towards the end of college being really curious with what a box with “nothing” would contain. Researching this topic just lead me to the Kasimir Effect and there are some amazing videos that describe it. Haven’t looked into it in greater technical depth but am just in awe of the natural/physical environment within which we exist. The article doesn’t seem to touch on the above much but great to see “pop” literature on it nonetheless.
